The current government shutdown (the longest in history) is impacting 800,000 government workers, according to Forbes, many whom have already missed their first paycheck. Many of the affected workers are based in the Washington, D.C. area, as the federal government is the largest employer. During such a stressful time, parents should not have to worry about how they're going to feed their families. Today, Kraft is opening a pop-up grocery store that will allow those government workers to bring a bag of Kraft products home to their families.

Current federal government workers with a government ID can stop by "Kraft Now Pay Later" to stock up on staples such as Kraft Mac & Cheese, Kraft Singles, Kraft salad dressings, and Kraft BBQ for their families, per a press release. Rather than paying for the groceries, Kraft asks that workers "pay it forward by donating to a charity of choice or someone in need once they are able to do so."

Sergio Eleuterio, head of marketing for Kraft says, "Kraft stands for families and we want to support the families who have built our brands. This store is one way we can help those affected get the grocery staples they need. And we celebrate all who are doing their part to help."

The store will be open beginning today through January 20 at 1287 4th Street NE, two blocks from Union Market. Props to Kraft for stepping up to help the furloughed workers!
