Whether you get six weeks or three months maternity leave, there is never enough time with your newborn baby before you have to go back to work. Even Kourtney Kardashian feels this way, despite how fun her work can be (and how much help she gets). She shared a vulnerable post about working postpartum, and many moms can relate.

The Lemme founder posted behind-the-scenes photos of her dressed in a skin tight dress with open shoulders on Instagram. She was on set filming promo for The Kardashians season 5 when her son Rocky, who she shares with husband Travis Barker, was just 3 months old.

“I was 3 months postpartum and not feeling quite ready for a big shoot like this where there’s lots and lots of people watching me all day,” she wrote in her caption. “And even though my baby boy was with me all day on set it’s not the same when I’m covered in makeup, in high heels and wearing a dress versus our snuggly days at home in pajamas.”

If you’re lucky enough to be able to bring your baby to work with you, it still has its set of challenges. Especially if they cry for mama, and you’re right there but you can’t do anything yet because you have to work!

But instead of dwelling on the challenges, Kardashian is thinking positively. “Something I’ve been doing lately is shifting my mindset and thinking of the positives!” she wrote. “I am so blessed to be able to bring my baby to work. How fun to get to be glammed up when I’ve been home for months in pajamas. How blessed to get to work alongside my sisters and mom … we really have so much fun together! What a beautiful life!”

Even if you don’t quite have Kardashian-level blessings in life, it’s a good reminder that we can always look to the bright side in any situations. I’m so grateful for having a job I love that I can do from home with my babies when they aren’t in school or having a sick day, and even though I missed them when I went back postpartum (and even now), it’s all worth it.

Many people praised Kardashian’s vulnerability in this post. “Leave it to Kourtney to always keeping it real when it comes to how women’s bodies change 24/7 with IVF to actual pregnancy and birth! You go girl ❤️” one person wrote.

“So glad you choosing positive energy 🙌🏾 Keep going momma!” another wrote.

Kardashian has been very open about her postpartum feelings and struggles since she welcomed Rocky in November. (She is also mom to Mason, 14, Penelope, 11, and Reign, 9, who she shares with ex Scott Disick.) In April, the Poosh founder shared bikini pictures and a message to other postpartum moms on her Instagram story.

“Dear new mommies,” Kardashian wrote. “Your body is beautiful at all stages. During pregnancy as we are glowing and growing, postpartum as we are healing and shrinking, and then that period I find the hardest as our bodies are still adjusting. And if you’re breastfeeding, that’s a whole other part of it.”

“I try to be kind to myself as my body finds a new normal,” Kardashian continued. “The pressure put on us to bounce back when everything is new and different isn’t realistic. Life is beautiful, you are beautiful. Just a little reminder (for me too;) XOXO.”

These celebrity moms have opened up about how brutal ‘”return to work syndrome” can be.
