Kobe Bryant surprises NCAA champ Arike Ogunbowale on ‘Ellen’
NCAA basketball champ Arike Ogunbowale got a huge surprise on the Ellen DeGeneres Show — she met her idol, Kobe Bryant. The Notre Dame player made headlines with two game-winning shots in the NCAA tournament, including one that won the national championship.
After the two buzzer-beaters came a digital love fest from Ogunbowale’s idol, Kobe Bryant. The two tweeted back and forth during the tournament.
Big time shot Arike! We are a @UConnWBB family but we love seeing great players making great plays. I know my lil sis @jewellloyd is happy Well done @ndwbb good luck on Sunday #mambamentality https://t.co/8DxHkNURN7

On Ellen, the five-time NBA champ surprised Ogunbowale with some high praise. The Notre Dame star was beside herself as Bryant gave her high praise, saying that he never hit a game-winning championship shot at the buzzer. He gave Ogunbowale — who wears his jersey number and even named her dog Kobe — signed jerseys for her and her furry friend.
To cap it off, they all played a quick game of 2 on 2 along with Ice Cube, because for Ogunbowale, today was a good day.
