What You Need to Know About Elvira, the Producer Behind Taylor Swift's Remixes

From Seventeen

Lately, Taylor Swift can't help but release remixes of her songs along with the originals and the same goes for her latest track, "You All Over Me." Along with dropping the "From the Vault" song today, Taylor also released the "Love Story (Taylor’s Version) - Elvira Remix" "because in this house we dance and cry at the SAME TIME," she wrote on her Instagram.

But who is this Elvira, and why does she have a Taylor Swift remix named after her? No, it's not the horror character from the 80s, though that mistake has been made before. Cassandra Peterson, the actress who has been embodying Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, for over 40 years tweeted back in December 2020 when Taylor's first Elvira remix came out. "I’ve done a lot of music projects over the years, but this isn’t one of them," she wrote. "Sorry guys."

Taylor's Elvira is actually Elvira Anderfjärd, a Swedish producer who has worked with Katy Perry and Tove Lo in the past. She co-produced Katy's song, "What Makes A Woman" on her recent album, Smile.

Elvira doesn't have a public Instagram, which has led some fans to think that she isn't real, and Taylor is once again hiding behind a Swedish pseudonym. But Elvira is an actual producer and the pair has now worked on two songs together so it's safe to say we will probably be hearing more from her in the future.
