After Holliday Grainger hooked us all in with season one of The Capture, the BBC thriller focussed on CCTV manipulation and deep-fake, we were over the moon when season two, starring Papa Essiedu, dropped on BBC One and iPlayer. Now, fans are wondering whether a third series is in the pipeline.

Here's everything we know about The Capture season three so far, from expected release date to cast and additional information.

Has The Capture season 3 been confirmed?

Sadly the BBC haven't yet confirmed a third season of The Capture, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. Season one aired at the end of 2019, and a follow up wasn't confirmed until June 2020, so considering season two hasn't even finished yet, we're holding out hope for news of another one.

Plus, Holliday Grainger, who plays DI Rachel Carey, would be keen to make more. Speaking to RadioTimes.com, she said she'd be "really interested to know" what writer and creator Ben Chanan would do for season three, explaining, "It goes on such a journey from the beginning, Carey and the plot. It goes on such a massive journey throughout season 2 that where we're left, the world, I want to know what happens next. So I'd love to watch season 3 for sure."

Promising!

Who would star in The Capture season 3?

As it hasn't been confirmed (and season two hasn't even finished yet) it's hard to know for sure. Based on Holliday Grainger's desire for a season three, we can assume she'll be back as Rachel Carey, while it's hard to know if Papa Essiedu will return as MP Isaac Turner, or if he was solely a focus for season two.

Providing they're not killed off, fans can probably expect to see these reoccurring characters back on screen too:

What is The Capture season 3's expected release date?

As it hasn't yet been renewed, we don't know for sure. Season one arrived in September 2019, while season two came in August 2022. Following that timeline, we could maybe expect the third season on mid to late 2024, but that's obviously just a prediction for now. C'mon BBC, you know what to do!
