Our favorite Riverdale stars are certainly going the extra mile to make sure everyone stays safe on set in a COVID world, even when they're makingout.

KJ Apa revealed on Instagram that stars are now having to use mouthwash before kissing scenes, which sounds like something they probably should have been doing before hand. But instead of just a once and done deal, they now have to do it before every single take.

"Our new normal is washing our mouths before every take of a make-out scene..." KJ wrote on Instagram along with a video of him and co-star Camila Mendes taking a swig of mouthwash while filming season 5.

Based off the video, each of the actors have to keep the mouthwash in for about a minute before spitting it back out into a plastic bag. Ewww....

Since they have to do this before every single take, they're likely doing this multiple times a day, depending on how long it takes them to film a scene. Other television shows, like The Bold and the Beautiful, have tried other techniques like replacing actors with mannequins for kissing scenes. However, viewers have noted that it was fairly obvious that they were being used, which caused memes of certain scenes to surface.

These are just some of the new measures to ensure that cast and crew are safe on sets during the coronavirus pandemic. Riverdale was one of the first shows to shut down after a crew member tested positive for the virus. The show ended up moving its last two episodes to next season.

At least they can't complain about anyone having bad breath while kissing each other.
