Who doesn’t love gummy bears? That small, sweet, fruit-flavored candy made of gelatin and shaped like a bear is a fun treat at any age. One thing that's even better than eating a gummy bear is making a gummy bear. This candy is surprisingly easy to make and only has a few ingredients which also makes it a perfect activity to do with kids. Check out this easy recipe for making homemade gummy bears and get started.
What you need:
1 tablespoon of gelatin
1/2 cup of water
Use any of the following to add flavor:
The gummy bear mold that does it all
Ordinarily, you would heat up your gelatin mixture on the stove in a pan, then put the mixture in a mold and finally place the mold in the fridge to set, but we found a gummy mold that does it all – no heating or refrigeration needed. This electric gummy maker is the only gadget you need to make perfect gummies every time, and it comes with four different shapes, so go ahead and make some gummy bears, worms or fish.
Make it with JELLO
First, place the water, gelatin and JELLO in the gelatin bowl and turn on the heat. Stir the mixture until both powders have completely dissolved in the water. While the mixture is heating up, remove the gummy molds from the gummy maker and fill the bottom compartments up with ice and place the molds over the ice. Once your gummy mixture is ready, start pouring it into the molds using the heating bowl’s easy-pour spout. Since the molds are sitting directly on the ice, your gummies will begin setting rather quickly. For this recipe, you can use any flavor JELLO you prefer; just make sure you are using the 3-ounce size.
Don’t limit your flavors
If you want to get creative with more flavors than JELLO allows for, fruit-flavored oils may be the way to go. In order to do this, we have to tweak the recipe just a little. This time you are going to mix 4 tablespoons of sugar, ⅓ cup of water, 3 tablespoons of gelatin and a few drops of LorAnn Fruity Flavor oils. Mix everything together until the gelatin dissolves and pour it into the molds.
You and your kids will have a blast making gummy bears, gummy worms and gummy fish with this kitchen gadget you never knew you needed. Channel your inner candy maker and head down to Amazon for everything you need to make the perfect gummies.
