Kit Harington from 'Game of Thrones' is Reportedly Joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe

It’s been a busy year for Kit Harington. Game of Thrones, the show that introduced him to his future wife and made him famous around the globe, ended after eight seasons. And now it looks like he’s joining another one of the entertainment world’s flagship properties—the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Deadline reported Friday that their sources say Harington will be joining one of Marvel’s franchises. But there’s no word yet on where in the MCU he’s going to land. Entertainment Weekly confirmed that an official announcement will be made this weekend at Disney’s D23 Expo, so at least we won’t be held in suspense for too long.

Harington has indicated an interest in the genre before. "I'd love to play a superhero," he told MTV in 2015. "I would love to play Batman... I’d camp him up again, he’s gone way too dark and serious. I’d like proper spandex."

While Batman’s not on the table since Harington has thrown in his lot with Marvel, he could definitely still have a some campy, spandexed franchises to choose from. My vote’s with Thor: Love and Thunder—Taika Waititi’s Ragnarok was among Marvel’s best, could never be described as too dark or serious, and we already know that Harington can be very, very funny. He could also potentially join the already star-studded cast of Eternals, a new superhero team Marvel is introducing in Phase Four. Either way, it seems likely that Jon Snow is about to trade his Ikea cloak for a cape.
