"The Kissing Booth 2" Release Date Announced on Netflix

Attention, long-anticipated Netflix sequel The Kissing Booth 2 finally has a release date.

Joey King, a.k.a. Elle Evans herself, announced the news live on YouTube on May 21 — The Kissing Booth 2 will begin streaming on Netflix on July 24.

When we last left off with The Kissing Booth, Elle was seeing Noah off to college at the airport before hopping on his motorcycle, and it wasn't clear whether Elle and Noah would stay together following their booth dalliance. But though their relationship was up in the air, her friendship with Lee was rock solid again after the two fought because she kept the pretty big secret that she was dating his brother. High drama.

The sequel will likely contain more relationship status answers for fans of the franchise, which began as a book series by Beth Reekles (and before that, as a story on Wattpad that Beth wrote when she was 15 years old). There's already a sequel book, The Kissing Booth 2: Going the Distance, and Beth has said the movie is based on the book's plot.

The official synopsis for the sequel film reads, “Elle Evans (Joey King) just had the most romantic summer of her life with her reformed bad-boy boyfriend Noah Flynn (Jacob Elordi). But now Noah is off to Harvard, and Elle heads back to high school for her senior year. She'll have to juggle a long-distance relationship, getting into her dream college with her best friend Lee (Joel Courtney), and the complications brought on by a close friendship with a handsome, charismatic new classmate named Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez). When Noah grows close to a seemingly-perfect college girl (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Elle will have to decide how much she trusts him and to whom her heart truly belongs."

We'll find out the answer to that last dilemma soon, when The Kissing Booth 2 gets its July 24 release.
