King Charles' relationship with daughter-in-law Meghan Markle has always intrigued the public. King Charles Allegedly Tried Hard to Have a Relationship with Meghan
Royal author Angela Levin explains to The Sun that King Charles gave it his all in terms of establishing a relationship with the former Suits star, but her desire to be "number one" in the family was the reason why their relationship failed. Also, she claims that his efforts were met "with no enthusiasm."
He Allegedly "Thought She Was Terrific"
"Prince Charles, as he was then, when he was first introduced to Meghan thought she was terrific," Levin tells the publication. "He did think she was a breath of fresh air and he was very happy that Prince Harry had found someone to get married to."
His Efforts Have Allegedly Been Met with "No Enthusiasm"
"It didn't work and however kind he's been – offers of coming up to Balmoral and coming to lunch in the country – it's been taken with no enthusiasm or not taken at all," Levin continued. "He's done his very best but Meghan wanted her and Harry to be number one and it annoyed her."
Meghan Took a Stand
Levin adds that there is a reason why King Charles has a better relationship with William's wife, Kate Middleton. "Catherine comes from a stable family where if there are any arguments or disputes they work very hard, very quickly to sort it out," she said. "Meghan of course comes from a broken family and there is a lot to show that she tends to just cut people out of her life if they say anything that might not be praise. [Catherine is] a family person she doesn't cause trouble even if she's not 100 per cent pleased with something, she just gets it done and carries on, whereas Meghan takes a stand. The way that [Catherine] and the now King look at each other when they go to an event or go to an engagement, they're very relaxed with each other, they smile, they laugh they're at ease."
Expert Thinks They Won't Ever Get On
Levin adds that Meghan constantly "attacking" the Royal Family is "very insulting" and doesn't help her cause. "I don't think it's at all about favorites. I think it's about having a family and responding to that. He [Charles] has done everything he can to keep the family going. He loves Harry very much and did like Meghan very much but it's just her behavior that you just have to accept. She's as hard as nails and it's not easy to get through that unless you absolutely do it her own way. They don't have any time to get on."
