A good music video is an art form in and of itself. Weaving sound, cinematography, choreography, and narrative together is no small feat. What exactly does it take to make a solid music video? In Playback, we gave Kim Petras a chance to answer that question.

Breaking down her enchanting music video for her hit single "Icy," Petras divulged all the behind-the-scenes details.

Watch the full music video below and read on for a rundown of the visuals.

Petras was inspired by an iconic Britney hit.

"The song is very much about heartbreak and becoming a different, better, stronger person through it," Petras says. "Very Britney Spears 'Stronger.' The color scheme was really inspired by Britney Spears's 'Stronger.' It's one of my favorite videos ever. That silver chair, that blue tint to it. That was my shit, like 2000s pop growing up was my jam."

But Britney wasn't her only influence.

"We were really inspired by an outfit that Aaliyah wore in one of her videos," Petras continues. "I'm obsessed with Aaliyah, and this is probably my favorite look out of all of them just because of how simple it is. I really just thought the simplicity made it, with the wet hair too."
