Kim Kardashian West turns 40!

For Kim Kardashian’s 40th birthday, we're taking a look at some of her biggest milestones and how she turned scandals into pure success. Former E! News correspondent and Daily Mail TV Senior Correspondent Alicia Quarles, takes us through the phenomenon of one of this one-of-a-kind celebrity.

ALICIA QUARLES: Well, it's Kim Kardashian's birthday. Of course, 40 is a milestone, so it's the perfect time to take a look at all the milestones in her life.

Now, Kim Kardashian grew up in the lap of luxury, but before people really knew about Kim, she came onto the scene as Paris Hilton's best friend. She was her sidekick. She actually organized her closet, and then she blew up internationally for the sex tape with Ray J. From there, she on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians". The sex tape was actually a big win. Yeah, the scandals at the time, but she flipped it and, you know, made money off of it, made herself into a household name.

Some of her biggest business wins had been things that people put their nose up about. You know, she says that she can make up to a million dollars for social media post. Before then, social media wasn't really a thing, and now she boasts some of the most followed social media persons online. Kim Kardashian says that she invented the selfie back in the day. She had a "New York Times" best seller, "Selfish." People loved that bone structure, they loved that face, and she capitalized off of it. Smart, smart, smart.

Kim Kardashian also entered the beauty game. In 2010, she released her first fragrance. A few years later, she had four more, and she just has not stopped. She also created KKW Beauty. Of course, this was way before Kylie Cosmetics. It's worth over $500 million, and she really put it on the map that celebrities don't have to just fragrance, they can cross over into the beauty game too and be taken seriously.

We saw the evolution of Kim Kardashian from sex tape, to business person, to wife, to mother, to then saying that she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps and go to law school, so I'm excited to see what she does in her next 40 years. Happy birthday, Kim. Keep evolving.
