Could Saint West be a big brother soon?
According to Kim Kardashian West, plans for a younger sibling for her children North, 3, and Saint, 1, is already in the works. In a new promo clip for Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim reveals that she and husband, Kanye West, are trying to conceive for a third time—despite the high risks involved.
"I'm going to try to have one more baby," Kim reveals to her extended family in the clip, to their shocked faces. "I want my kids to have siblings, but the doctors don't feel like it's safe for me."
Her mother, Kris Jenner, is seen echoing the doctors' concerns: "I don't want you to do something that would put you in danger," she tells Kim.
Kim, 36, endured difficult,high-risk pregnancies with both North and Saint. With North, she had preeclampsia, a serious pregnancy complication marked by high blood pressure that forced her to deliver at 34 weeks, six weeks early. During the delivery, Kim developed another potentially life-threatening condition, placenta accreta, where the placenta does not detach completely from the uterine wall. "It was the most painful experience of my life," Kim wrote on her website about the condition.
Kim later underwent surgery to completely remove all traces of her placenta from her uterus, and the scar tissue from the procedure made it difficult for her to conceive a second time. After more than a year of trying, Kim became pregnant with Saint through in vitro fertilization—and endured a second difficult delivery, where she suffered from placenta accreta again.
These high-risk conditions led doctors to warn Kim against carrying a third child. "You're always taking a little bit of a chance," a doctor told her previously on KUWTK. "There are situations where retained placenta could be life or death." A second doctor told her that she would need to use a surrogate for any future pregnancies. "If our goal is to grow your family like you want to, then a surrogate makes sense," he told the reality TV star.
"If the two doctors, that I trust, have told me it wouldn't be safe for me to get pregnant again, I have to listen to that," Kim said at the time.
