With each new episode of The Kardashians, it seems like we’re going to get more and more insight into Kim’s messy split from Kanye West.

As I’m sure you know, Kim filed to divorce Kanye way back in February 2021, and for about eight months after that, it seemed as if things were incredibly amicable between the exes.

That was until Kim started dating Pete Davidson in late October 2021, and things eventually came crumbling down as Kanye began discussing the divorce more publicly than ever.

By February, he’d started harassing both Kim and Pete on social media, sharing their private messages and even threatening acts of physical violence. As he tried to win Kim back, he continued to talk publicly about the couple all the way until their eventual split in August 2022.

In spite of Kim's breakup with Pete, Kanye's harassment didn’t relent. In early September, he reemerged on Instagram to slam the KarJenners and air his frustrations about his kids’ schooling.

The constant posting became so intense that Kim and Kris reached out to beg for him to stop, however, all Kanye did was screenshot the messages and share them with the public.

In one text that Kim sent on her mom’s behalf, Kris said: “PLEASE…Tell him to please stop mentioning my name. I'm almost 67 years old and I don’t always feel great and this stresses me to no end.”

In response, Kanye wrote: “Y'all don't have so so over my black children and where they go to school. They will not do playboy and sex tapes. Tell your Clinton friends to come get me. I'm here.”

So, around the time this was unfolding in the public eye in September, filming had just commenced on Season 3 of The Kardashians, meaning we now have an inside look at Kim and Kris’s real-time reactions.

After last week’s cliffhanger, Episode 2 picks right back up where we left off, with Kris and Kim discussing Kanye’s behavior at Kim’s house.

“I don’t wanna be a part of this narrative, and it’s like, when is this ever gonna end? Like, it never will,” Kim says through tears. “I’m stuck with this for the rest of my life.”

Kris reminds Kim that it isn’t her job to control Kanye’s behavior anymore, adding that “he’s doing this to himself.”

In her confessional, Kim admits that she still holds back from airing her true feelings about Kanye for the sake of their four young children, who obviously don’t know the full extent of their dad’s public behavior.

“I still feel the need to, like, not talk about it and protect it from my kids. And I always will feel that way,” she said, adding: “But, God, if people knew. I just would never do that to my kids.”

Back in the room with Kris, Kim reflects on the years she spent with Kanye, and the various periods throughout their marriage when he received intense public backlash, for example, when he was tweeting erratically or at the height of his political campaign.

“I used to run around and call everyone behind his back and be like, ‘It’s gonna be OK, it’s gonna be OK. Don’t worry, just give him another chance,’” she said. “I used to spend hours and hours and hours of my days as the clean-up crew.”

“Sometimes I feel like if he were to hit rock bottom, that’s his journey that he needs to figure out on his own,” she says, making it clear that she won’t be held accountable for his actions now they’re no longer together. “I just don’t have that energy.”

In her confessional, Kim says that one of the most difficult things about their divorce has been watching Kanye change so drastically from the person she married back in 2014.

“It’s like the hardest feeling to watch someone you really loved and you have a family with, just be so different than who you knew,” she says.
