We’ve all been there: on the verge of cutting bangs due to a major breakup, life shakeup or simply wanting to try out something new and different. If you’ve ever gone through with the chop and regretted it, take a page out of Kim Kardashian’s book and try the temporary, clip-in version for a night out instead.
The 43-year-old reality television star, entrepreneur and mom of four looked totally bangin’ (pun intended) at the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City on Nov. 6. While her high-neck black leather dress was enough of a statement-maker on its own, Kardashian’s go-to hairstylist, celebrity hairdresser Chris Appleton, opted for faux bangs to really elevate his client and friend’s glam for the evening.
Appleton told Vogue that he was inspired by Pamela Anderson circa the 1990s when styling The Kardashian star’s messy up-do with wispy fringe.
“It was a much more undone look than we’ve done previously and adding piece-y bangs really gave it a lived-in finish,” he told the outlet.
As for how he placed the bangs into the up-do, Appleton noted that he simply followed Kardashian’s strong cheekbones as a guide.
“Kim and I worked visually, just grabbing hair and pinning it into place,” he added. “From there, the key element was getting the separation in the bangs.”

Kardashian is clearly just as obsessed with her temporary bangs as we are, since the SKIMS founder recreated the same look the following evening for an event celebrating her shapewear brand’s collaboration with Swarovski.
