At this point, you're probably well aware that Kim Kardashian is a beast when it comes to fitness. (Like, look at her IG stories-she literally did 1000 squats the other day.)
Which may lead you to wonder: How in the world does Kim-a mom of three and a business owner with a busy TV filming schedule-have time to hit the gym on the reg? The answer: She gets up early, like, super early.
"Her schedule is crazy, and mine is also crazy, so we work out really early in the morning at 6 a.m.," says Kim's trainer Melissa Alcantara (who's also a fitness badass, for the record.)
"I’ve been working out really hardcore with a bodybuilder for one year. September is our one-year anniversary,” 37-year-old Kim told E! News in a recent interview, according to People. “I work out about an hour-and-a-half every single day, heavy weights. I don’t do a lot of cardio."
Alcantara also tells WomensHealthMag.com that the duo works out six days a week, and they'll even do up to an hour an 45 minutes on leg and butt days. "85 percent of our training is weight training, and the other 15 is made up of cardio."
They'll focus on leg and butt, chest and triceps, and back and biceps throughout the week. Kim's favorite, to no one's surprise: Butt and legs day. "Kim loves to work the back of her legs-the hamstrings and the booty!" says Alcantara. Plus, "we'll have one day entirely dedicated to abs," she notes. (BTW Melissa shared Kim's butt workout and abs workout with WomensHealthMag.com-you're welcome!)
Kim also noted in the interview: “I’ve lost 20 pounds and I’m really proud of that. I was almost 140 forever and now I’m like 116 and it just feels good." (While Kim's fitness goals are certainly admirable, it is important to note that the way Kim has spoken about her weight loss recently has been viewed as problematic and triggering.)
“I didn’t see results right away, but when you stick with something and you’re consistent, you will. So, I love it,” she added.
Alcantara can't say enough about Kim's dedication to fitness. "She loves taking her kids to school. She’s a badass mom," she says. But even considering her mom duties, plus her work schedule, she never misses one of those early morning seshes. "She’s super responsible, she never cancels-she’s the best client and athlete you can have."
Okay, but how? (HOW?!) "It’s just her drive," the celeb trainer says. "She knows what she wants, and she has to fit it in. She's like ‘ I have to work out, this is part of my life’, it’s all about the mindset."
To follow in Kim's fitness footsteps, Alcantara advises making working out a staple part of your daily routine-at whatever time works for you-and don't let it be optional. "Once it’s part of your daily routine and your life, then it’s not something you have to think about, you just have to do it."
