If, like us, your obsession with Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer just won't quit, you'll be happy to know Killing Eve season 4 has officially been confirmed and will be landing on a TV screen near you *this month*.

Filming took place over summer 2021, and fans have been eagerly speculating about storylines, cast, how the whole thing is going to end and more. Here's everything we know about season 4 and the future of Killing Eve so far.

What have the cast said about Killing Eve season 4?

Speaking on The One Show on 22 February, Sandra Oh (who plays Eve Polastri) teased what we can expect from the last season of Killing Eve. "I'm not going to describe [their relationship] too much because I think what is really, really special about the show is that everyone brings their own interpretation to it and I want to keep it as wide as possible," she said of Eve and Villanelle.

"But I will say at the beginning of season 4, Eve is in a very, very different place, and actually so is Villanelle. They find themselves in very different places. I really, really wanted to change Eve up, particularly for this finale.

"There is absolutely that push and pull that they always have. But because it is the finale, you'll see them in circumstances that I think you've always hoped to see them in."

Is that, a relationship?!

Previously, Jodie spoke to NBC (via MailOnline) about Villanelle's last hurrah and admitted, "I had a little moment where I saw the clapperboard and I had a kind of lump in my throat.

"I cannot let myself [mourn]. I have two months left [of filming] It is like a marathon. If you are at the start you cannot think of the finish. Not that I have ever run a marathon."

Teasing the plot, Jodie continued, "We have definitely got off to an exciting start. I think now, because we know it's the final season they are definitely pushing boundaries, especially with Villanelle. Where we open with her [Villanelle] is totally bonkers and brilliant. I hope people finally enjoy it when it hits the screen."

Is there a trailer for Killing Eve season 4?

At the beginning of February 2022, the final Killing Eve season 4 trailer dropped. In it, we see Villanelle going to therapy for her obsession with killing, while Eve continues her mission to uncover what's happening to The 12. Not long to go until the 27th February now!

In mid-December 2021, the BBC released a teaser trailer for Killing Eve season 4, plus some first-look images and a confirmed release date. Wow.

First up is the teaser video, posting to the @killingeve Instagram account, which includes a series of iconic objects from the show being burned in true eerie Killing Eve style.

We can see Villanelle's famous pink dress going up in flames, as well as the pink teddy bear and creepy pig mask seen in the show, plus postcards from locations all across Europe. Meanwhile, the show's main title theme tune 'Killer Shangri-Lah' by Pshycotic Beats is playing over the top, and it's all *very* Villanelle. The clip then confirmed that series 4 will be the final season, due at the end of February.

Later, on 28 December, we got another trailer for season four, recapping what happened in season three before introducing us to two new female characters. Watch it here:

And clock the new characters here. Exciting!

Have we seen any pictures from Killing Eve season 4?

It's a yes again! The BBC released a series of first-look images from the new series, and we can already *feel* the drama.

The pictures show Jodie Comer as Villanelle dressed in an angel-esque outfit, plus Sandra Oh as Eve Polastri in a 10/10 disguise comprised of a trench coat, sunglasses and a blonde wig. We also see Villanelle dressed in an all-red cassock worn by the clergy of the Catholic Church, while Eve is pictured with a huge fish tank.

There's also Fiona Shaw back as Carolyn Martens sat by a swimming pool, while Camille Cottin is pictured in her role as high-ranking Twelve agent Hélène.

When will Killing Eve season 4 be released?

The good news is there's not long to wait at all! Killing Eve season 4 now has a confirmed release date: 27th February 2022.

Along with the new teaser video, the Killing Eve Insta account added the caption, "You deserve this. 2/27/22," officially confirming the date (in the US format).

While previous seasons have aired first in the US before coming to the UK (with around a two-month gap), it looks like this season will be different

The BBC and BBC iPlayer jointly wrote in an Instagram post, "Watch Killing Eve on BBC iPlayer in early 2022. New episodes available weekly straight after it airs on BBC America."

Hooray!

When did Killing Eve season 4 start filming?

Jodie Comer previously confirmed that filming for season four was set to start on 7 June 2021, while speaking at the BAFTA TV Awards. When Tom Allen asked when she'd be shooting the series, Jodie responded, "Tomorrow! Yes... don't worry I've pre-ordered my taxi, I'm not gonna' be hungover, I'll be very sensible."

In early October the BBC went on to confirm that the new series was in full swing, releasing an exciting little teaser which revealed that not only had Killing Eve begun filming but it was already in production.

Will there be a Killing Eve season 5?

OK, we might be getting ahead of ourselves here as season 4 hasn't even hit screens yet. Still, we can't help but wonder whether there's more in store for Villanelle, and whether season 5 will be a possibility.

However, sadly, BBC America previously announced that season 4 will be the final instalment for the series - and Jodie Comer has now spoken out to say she agrees with the decision. *Cries*.

Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, Jodie revealed how she's feeling about the show coming to an end, saying, "I’m trying not to think about it too much, honestly. It’s sad, you know? I’ve been with this character for a really, really long time."

Still, she added that she's on board with the decision to end the series after four seasons, explaining, "I would rather we ended on a good note and kept our integrity, instead of going on and on, and being kicked out the door."

While Jodie's explanation makes total sense, we're still gutted about the news.

Jodie went on to share more about her experience of playing Villanelle, telling the publication, "There are so many layers to Villanelle. She’s multifaceted and you can’t really pin her down. She’s instilled a sense of fearlessness in me. Through playing her, I’ve had to shed my own self-consciousness."

What do we know about Killing Eve season 4?

For starters, fans already know that none other than Sex Education's Laura Neal will now be scripting the show, which, namely because Sex Education is bloody brilliant, is very exciting. She'll take over from Suzanne Heathcote who wrote the third season, and join a roster of the likes of Emerald Fennell and Phoebe Waller-Bridge who wrote seasons two and one respectively.

AMC president Sarah Barnett said of Laura's appointment:

"Killing Eve smashes television tropes in every way, both on the screen and behind it. We have a remarkable squad of ferociously smart women writers passing the baton to each other on this show, aligned around a coherent vision but bringing it to life with their own specific sparkle and brilliance. Laura Neal is the latest incredible leader of the pack on Killing Eve."

Who will star in Killing Eve season 4?

Thanks to pictures released by the BBC, it's been confirmed that Villanelle and Eve Polastri, aka Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh, will indeed be returning. Plus, the pics show Fiona Shaw reprising her role as MI5 boss, Carolyn Martens, too.

It's also hoped that Kim Bodnia will be present as Konstantin Vasiliev, Villanelle's handler.

We can assume there will be some new characters as well - season 3 brought with it the mysterious new Felix (played by Stefan Iancu), while during season 2, we were introduced to Julian (played by The Mighty Boosh's Julian Barratt), Jess (W1A's Nina Sosanya) and Hugo (Edward Bluemel).

What might happen in Killing Eve season 4?

The first series was based on the book Codename Villanelle by Luke Jennings, but the series beyond this have taken their own direction. Undoubtedly, Villanelle will continue to kill, and Sandra Oh will continue to be secretly obsessed with her. Or will we get the Bonnie and Clyde duo we so desperately desire? Only time will tell.
