For context, Cudi wasn't originally supposed to headline the Miami festival — Kanye West was, but pulled out just a few days before. “We were looking forward to Ye headlining Rolling Loud Miami 2022. We spent months working with him and his team on the performance,” the festival co-founders told Variety last Sunday.

Ye and Cudi themselves have had somewhat of a contentious relationship in recent months. In an Instagram post back in February, Ye said Cudi wouldn't be on Donda 2 as he was friends with Pete Davidson — to which Cudi replied, “Too bad I don’t wanna be on ur album u fuckin dinosaur hahahaha." Cudi later emphasized on Twitter amid the release of Pusha T's track "Rock N Roll," "I am not cool w that man."

Cue Cudi's Rolling Loud performance. Footage from the event shows Cudi being hit by water bottles:

Including the apparent perspective of someone throwing a can at him:

"I will walk off this stage if y'all throw one more fucking thing up here," Cudi said during the fourth song of his set, “REVOFEV."

"You are ruining [it] for everybody. I will fucking leave," he added. Another water bottle was thrown, leading him to walk off the stage as people started to boo.

Many folks took to Twitter to voice their support of Cudi:

While Cudi has yet to comment on the situation, Rolling Loud tweeted, "Our fans, the artists, and everyone involved need to look out for each other. Share the love and be respectful to everyone. We love you, Cudi."

After all that, Ye did end up making a Rolling Loud appearance during Lil Durk’s set. He even performed the Life of Pablo track “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1," which includes vocals from Cudi.

Rolling Loud was further noteworthy as it appeared to be Travis Scott's first festival appearance since the Astroworld fatalities — making a guest appearance in Future's set.

We'll keep you posted if Cudi comments on the situation.
