Today, in celebrity love stories you didn't think could get more tangled, we have yet another reveal about Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson's relationship.

According to reports, the Good American co-founder secretly accepted a proposal from the NBA player last year, as they were set to welcome their second child via surrogate—and before news broke of his paternity scandal.

Per a Buzzfeed source, Tristan initially proposed to Khloé in December 2019, and she declined, as they were not fully back together. He later popped the question again in February 2021, and she said yes, though she did not announce the news publicly.

That means that Tristan asked Khloé to marry him just one month before he impregnated fitness model Maralee Nichols. Per Buzzfeed, the two were still engaged when documents revealing his paternity scandal were leaked.

Khloé and sister Kim Kardashian discussed the first proposal in the most recent episode of The Kardashians, which was filmed between January and February of this year, weeks after Khloé (and the world) found out Tristan had fathered a child with Nichols and broke things off with him for good.

In one scene, Kim told her sister that maybe the breakup was not so bad. "I mean, the fact that he proposed and you never told us…" she said to Khloé of the December 2019 proposal.

Kim then said in confessional that Tristan called her the year prior to say he was planning to propose to Khloé on Valentine's Day, but because she never heard from Khloé about it, she assumed he didn't. She then called Tristan to ask, and he revealed he had proposed in December.

Khloé said she didn't tell the news to her family because she said no, and because it was not something she was excited about.

"I said, 'I need to make sure that this is a totally different relationship, because I wanna be proud to say I’m engaged to anyone!'"she said. "And that’s why I said, 'You know, I’m not comfortable accepting this right now, because I’m not excited to tell my family.'"

Khloé and Tristan have been on and off since 2016, breaking up various times through the years due to the basketball player's infidelity scandals and finally splitting in 2021.
