People can hear me coming from a mile away. I’m talking about the jingle jangle of keys in my purse. I have house keys, car keys, work keys, my friends’ keys in case they get locked out — you get the drift. Oh, and I misplace my keys all the time. I can’t be the only one right? I finally got so sick of the time spent looking for my keys that I searched around and found this genius gadget.

Resembling a Swiss Army knife, the KeySmart Tile Smart Location Key Organizer ($50) holds up to 10 keys — and works with Bluetooth to track them on a map should you ever lose them.

When it arrived, I read the instructions and took all my keys off of my old ring. One by one, I added my keys to both sides of the organizer, using the included spacers to give them some breathing room (these were small and a little hard to maneuver but I got the hang of it after a few tries). When all my keys were on, I screwed the gadget together. It took some handiwork, but it wasn’t so bad.

The result? It was SO LIBERATING to have all my keys in one handy, contained place. The organizer has a nice weight to it without being too heavy. It’s small — about the size of a pack of breath mints — and feels good in your hand.

It didn’t come charged so I had to wait to test it out, but once it was juiced up, it worked like a charm.

I love the built-in bottle opener and flashlight for illuminating keyholes on dark nights, and it’s such a relief to not reach into my purse to take out a tangled mess! It works in conjunction with the free Tile app on your phone. So when you lose your keys, you just tap the app and it’ll bring up a map showing where they are; the key organizer will also ring so you can search via sound. (I hid my keys under the couch cushions to see if I’d hear the ring. I did! And the map was easy to use.) It works the other way too: If you misplace your phone, press a button on the key organizer to make your phone ring—even on silent. Cool.

The gizmo works for up to three months on a single charge, and comes in red (easy to see in a crowded purse!), white, slate and black. I really like this thing a lot. Hopefully I won’t lose my keys anytime soon, but if I do it’s nice to know this guy has my back.
