In light of the many sexual misconduct allegations leveled against him, actor Kevin Spacey was fired from Netflix’s House of Cards this past November. And now, allegations have surfaced that Spacey was known to have made several racist comments while on set as well.

The account came from Earl Blue, a Navy veteran and the head of VIP Protective Service, a security company that Netflix used for the House of Cards set at one point in time. Blue stated that one of his own employees overheard Spacey say, “I don’t want n—–s watching my trailer,” to a member of his personal security team. Blue also noted that Spacey would ignore black members of the VIP Protective Service Team.

Blue explained that he did not come forward with these allegations previously for reasons of “confidentiality,” but told the Daily Mail that “enough is enough.” Meanwhile, Iain Paterson, a producer on the show, told the paper that Netflix eventually terminated their contract with VIP Protective Service because the service was “unsatisfactory,” though he did not go into further detail. Other sources say that there had been a break-in on the set under the company’s watch, though this has not been verified.

Spacey has been known to be “difficult” on set, and his Baby Driver costar Jon Bernthal even once went as far as to say he “lost all respect for him (Spacey)” after working together.

“Going onto that set and working with him — I wasn’t there much and I wasn’t really in a situation to judge — but when I was there he really rubbed me the wrong way,” he said during an interview for “Jim and Sam Show” on Sirius XM.“I thought he was a bit of a bully… I didn’t really care for the way he was behaving toward some of the other people on set.”

If in fact true, Spacey’s actions are unacceptable, and it’s troubling that Netflix potentially overlooked blatantly racist behavior on set. We’re glad these allegations are finally coming to light, becaus, just like with sexual harassment and assault, time’s up.
