Kevin’s brother is a cool dude in his own right, according to a clever Oscar Mayer ad campaign promoting the company’s own lesser-known bacon, turkey bacon. (Get it?)
Did you know, for instance, that Michael Bacon can play 12 instruments? That he’s the only Bacon brother to win an Emmy? That he went to college at 16? Forget “Footloose"—Michael Bacon finished an impressive sixth in the 1975 Tennessee State Road Race. Try finding a person six degrees from anyone who’s accomplished that.
Well, it’s time to give this Bacon his due. At the video’s end, Michael implores viewers to make him the most-followed Bacon brother on Twitter—a tall order, since Kevin's 431,000 followers dwarfs Michael's measly 1,741—using the hashtag #unsungbacon.
"We really feel for Michael, and we want to support him as much as possible," Oscar Mayer’s senior director of integrated marketing and advertising Tom Bick told AdWeek. "You just have to embrace each one for its own individual qualities. And that’s what we do with our entire line of bacon products—each one is spectacular, because it’s made by the bacon experts at Oscar Mayer."
