Kesha Wore White Roses to Support Time's Up at the 2018 Grammy Awards

Kesha has never been one to blend in, and her interpretation of the white rose movement in support of Time’s Up at the 2018 Grammys was no exception. While most other participants in the movement (like Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, and The Chainsmokers) pinned an actual white rose to their lapels or gowns or (like Camila Cabello) attached the flower to a piece of jewelry, Kesha instead opted to stitch the flower right onto her jacket’s lapel.

The “Praying” singer, nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance at Sunday night’s ceremony, wore a navy blazer and matching trousers with a cream-colored silk blouse and a rhinestone-dotted collar underneath. The suit was decorated with Western-inspired white stitching from the lapels to the pant legs, and there were embroidered white roses on the lapels. She completed the look with bedazzled silver cowboy boots, a literal handful of sparkly rings, dewy makeup, and her long blond hair in loose, mermaid-like waves. She moved her hair to the side for photographers to show off the significant floral detail and her support for the Time's Up movement.

Ahead of the 2018 Grammys, dozens of musicians signed a letter (written by the newly formed Voices in Entertainment organization) in which they pledged to wear white roses in a show of support with the Time’s Up movement against sexual harassment and assault. “We choose the white rose because historically it stands for hope, peace, sympathy, and resistance,” the letter said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “Please join us in support of equal representation in the workplace, for leadership that reflects the diversity of our society, workplaces free of sexual harassment and a heightened awareness of accountability that our sisters started on January 1st and continued through the Golden Globes and onward.”
