Kesha Got Makeup Tips from James Charles Ahead of Kesha Rose Beauty’s Launch

Kesha is getting us all excited for her forthcoming beauty line by joining forces with one of the most famous YouTube makeup artists and beauty influencers around: the one and only James Charles.

Kesha and James collaborated on a video in support of her new line, Kesha Rose Beauty, which officially launches on December 3. "I am very, very excited. I literally grew up listening to your music," James tells the makeup-free Kesha before he got started on her makeup look, which the two decided would be a fresh, simple face with a "crazy" eye look.

In the video, Kesha spills more than a few details about her new beauty line, which is all about color and expression. Each shade of Kesha Rose Beauty's highly-pigmented, brightly-colored eyeshadows is named after a Kesha song, including a few from her upcoming album, which drops in January 2020. The palettes contain glitters, mattes, shimmers — practically everything you could need to create a Kesha-worthy eye look.

"I feel like I've had so many kinds of makeup on my face for 10 years," Kesha shares when James asked why she decided to dip her toe into the beauty world. "I've always loved makeup, I love color, I love playing. A lot of my influences are actually men who use makeup totally incorrectly. I'm really inspired by people that utilize what they want how they want."

The singer also revealed Kesha Rose Beauty is all about doing your own thing and letting color and expression lead the way. "There are so many different ways to use makeup that doesn't have to be this perfect, super-femme, societal-approved thing. It's more about expressing what I like, and what color I feel today," Kesha says. Her line is also vegan and cruelty-free.

Kesha reveals that she isn't a makeup expert, but she's "learning," and loving it. "I've had my face be the canvas for a lot of makeup, so I know what makes you break out... what glistens on-camera... I feel like I've been a test subject for every kind of makeup." Kesha says as James finishes her look: a red shadow look with green and purple on the lower lash line, accentuated with — what else — lots of glitter!
