Kesha’s had a rough week — New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich rejected her amended counterclaim against producer Dr. Luke — but instead of wallowing, she’s looking on the bright side. The singer took to Instagram Thursday to appreciate the good things in life, like her beau, Brad Ashenfelter.
“Me n my cat-dad baby love,” Kesha captioned a photo of her and Ashenfelter walking, Kesha staring down the cameras, and Ashenfelter looking at her lovingly. “I think at this exact moment he told me how proud he was of me for being confident with my foxy body and proud of my recovery,” she wrote.
Kesha has been very open about the eating disorder that sent her to rehab in 2014 and how hard she’s worked to get to a place of confidence when it comes to her self-image. “Especially with cameras chasing me and trying to make me look as bad as they can to make $$$$,” she continued on Instagram. She also wrote that in that moment her boyfriend told her she “was beautiful.”
She’s come a long way from almost dying or having a stroke because she “hadn’t consumed enough.” The pressure from both social media and her peers — including Dr. Luke, according to Kesha’s mom — to look a certain way was obviously detrimental to her in the past. But now she says, “f*** body standards I make my own.”
“And in case ya wondering, I LOVE IT.”
It’s possible this is in response to the shade she was thrown after she was spotted leaving a Pilates class looking super-casual. She wore a white tee that read, “Bring it on home,” along with black leggings and Vans, with her hair thrown up. TMZ posted the photo on Instagram, and followers were startled by her appearance, implying she looked larger.
“My God, what happened to her????” wrote one commenter. Someone else wrote, “@nattieyepez that ain’t normal where Im from.. people dont just let themselves gain what has to be 100 lbs.” And then there was “what the hell on this earth is just happened!! I guess now that kesha was eaten by an ogre.” And it only gets worse. Most followers are just convinced “it’s not Kesha.”
Luckily, some of her loyal fans — or just some genuinely kindhearted bystanders — rushed her to defense. “She’s human, can’t be flawless all the damn time. #positivevibesonly,” said a follower. “Kesha been through alot. I’m not going to judge her. :(” another chimed in. “I love Pilates go Kesha! ????” a fan said in support.
We think she’s glowing in both images — whether she’s getting her fitness on or strutting her stuff at the airport, you can’t ignore the confidence she’s exuding.
We must mention how fierce Kesha looks in the image from the airport. She was simply strolling out of LAX in a $1,095 Alexander McQueen black minidress with a light blue floral print — as one does. Her perfectly waved blond locks were blowing as if she had a personal fan, and she totally struck a pose when she saw the cameras. Who looks that fierce after a flight?! Kesha, of course.
