It should come as no surprise that Keri Russell officially rocked the sleekest jumpsuit ever — she does play a spy, after all.
The Americans star attended the 2016-17 season opening performance of Tristan und Isolde at the Metropolitan Opera House on Monday in a black jumpsuit. We know what you’re thinking: a jumpsuit to the Met Opera opening? Sounds a little underdressed. But leave it to a spy to make a onesie work on the red carpet. The outfit was elegant, yet practical. Perfect for a new mom — or an undercover spy.
The black, asymmetrical one-piece featured one short sleeve and one cape sleeve that billowed all the way down to her toes, giving her a bit of a wing. The bodice had a high neck and clung to her tiny post-pregnancy frame, while the attached palazzo pants gave her room to breathe. She accessorized with strappy heels, a gold-toned clutch, and a pair of chunky diamond ear climbers.
While the jumpsuit may not be ideal for bathroom runs — not only does she have to pull down the whole ensemble, but she has to make sure the cape sleeve doesn’t dip into the toilet — it’s worth it for that superchic look.
Her partner, co-star, and the father of her child, Matthew Rhys, who looked dapper in a black suit and bowtie, accompanied Russell. The two welcomed their son in May 2016, and unlike many celeb couples, they went with a classic name that proves how down-to-earth they are: Sam.
The Met Opera opening was the perfect excuse for a date night, and if being new parents has taken a toll on them, they didn’t let it show; the couple looked bright, rested, and more in love than ever.
