Kendall Jenner Walked Riccardo Tisci’s First Burberry Show During London Fashion Week

It was her first appearance of the season.

Burberry's new logo wasn't the only thing to make its debut at the show's SS19 fashion show in London on Monday: Kendall Jenner made a surprise appearance on the runway — her first of the season.

She hit the catwalk (posted to her Instagram stories here in a monochromatic khaki look that included a pair of khaki-colored trousers, a matching khaki blouse, and a khaki trench coat with gold chain detailing. She carried a structured leather clutch in the same neutral tone, and accessorized the look with khaki boots and a khaki pocket belt. Her hair was slicked into a low bun, and her makeup was natural with shades of — you guessed it! — khaki.

Last week, Kendall spoke out about her decision not to walk in New York Fashion Week, explaining that appearing in shows often triggers her anxiety. "I try to keep myself cool. I go in and out of having freak-outs, so I just have to chill out and be by myself," she told W. "Yesterday, I took a bath because I was really stressing out. I lit some candles, and, yeah."

This has come up during past fashion weeks as well, and Kendall has often prioritized her mental health over show appearances. "Kendall gets the most anxious during Fashion Week, so when she's traveling a lot and Milan's coming up and trying to juggle it all, [it's] overwhelming," her mom, Kris Jenner explained back in February. At this time last year, Kendall sat out fashion week altogether, because she felt like she was "on the verge of a mental breakdown,” she said last year.

It's also worth noting that this is the first runway Kendall has walked in since her recent controversial comments about other models in the industry. "Since the beginning, we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the f*ck those girls do," she said in an interview with Love magazine. "More power to ‘em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back." The statement received massive backlash from other models in the industry, which may have made the situation backstage on Monday more than a little bit uncomfortable.

Considering this is Ricardo Tisci's first show as the creative director of Burberry, it makes sense that Kendall took to the runway to support his new collection. The two have been friends for a long time, and she appeared in a number of his shows in the past while he was working with Givenchy.
