Kendall Jenner Took a Winter Staple and Turned It Into the Must-Have of the Summer

Laura Reilly Kendall Jenner

Come mid-July, we're lucky if we leave the house in anything but the breeziest t-shirt dress (but you'll more likely find us posted indoors directly in front of the A/C). So we got a little pearl-clutchy when we saw Kendall Jenner casually sipping wine so causally in a knee-length knit at the height of summer.

In an Instagram post over the weekend, Jenner posed seaside in an XXL straw hat, DMY by DMY Preston sunglasses, a Carolina Santo Domingo Ostra bag, and a House of Sunny Hockney dress. The ripple-effect dress, inspired by painter and mixed-media artist David Hockney (his pool paintings are about as summer as summer gets), features clever cutouts at the back that not only look interesting but add much-needed ventilation in the heat. While normally we'd balk at the idea of wearing such a winter-ready fabric at this time, the dress' viscose-nylon composition makes it particularly breathable.

We also admit we're easily coaxed into the idea of summer knits since this piece came from House of Sunny, a sustainable British brand we've followed over the years. The Hockney dress has been discovered by celebs and influencers and has been taking over Instagram these last few weeks. Unfortunately the dress is currently only available on H.O.S.'s site and shipping from England, but we've added some other summer knit dresses below.
