Kendall Jenner is looking back on her biggest teenage fashion moments with few regrets. How many of us can say that?
In a new Vogue interview about 16 iconic looks from her past, the model reflected on her “first high-fashion show” experience back in 2014. At 18 years old, Jenner walked the runway in a sheer brown Marc Jacobs V-neck sweater and completely bleached brows. “I actually could not believe I was there,” she said in Vogue’s “Life in Looks” video. “I was pretty chill, even though my boobies were out.”
Jenner says she approved the see-through look before seeing it in person. “I remember getting a call from my agent saying that Marc and Katie [Grand] wanted to put me in this kind of sheer top, and I was like, ‘I’m game. I don’t mind. I’m all good with the nipple,’” she shared. “It didn’t make me any more nervous. I genuinely was just like, ‘Dope, whatever they want, it’s their vision, let’s do it.’ So I was completely comfortable.”
The model also reflected on her walk, saying she was given a lesson prior to the runway show. “I think I took tips too seriously and ended up being really stiff when I got on the runway,” she said. “I’ve learned a lot since then. She’s just a little girl here and I love to see it.”
That same year, Kendall Jenner attended her first Met Gala wearing a mermaid-style gown by Top Shop. “I felt really beautiful this night. I look at it now, and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I looked like a baby,’ but I felt like a woman,” she said of the dress. “I was using Kim’s hair and makeup people, so I was, like, I feel like I’m embracing this woman side of me.”
“I was really just going in on my own and it was really scary,” Jenner said. “I warmed up immediately once I got to my table, and it all was good. And then my sister Kim is so nice. She just kept coming and checking in on me. ‘Are you good? Are you good?’ Now I get to go with all my friends so it’s the best thing ever.”
