Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos surprise son Michael on 'Riverdale' set: 'It's bring your parents to work day'

Proud parents! Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos stopped by the set of CW’s Riverdale on Wednesday — much to the surprise of their son.

Michael Consuelos, 21, will guest star as a younger version of his dad’s character on the upcoming third season, and he was in his trailer when his parents came knocking. The Live! With Kelly and Ryan host shared her son’s reaction on her Instagram Story.

“Oh,” Michael says after he opens the door.

“Hi!” exclaims Mark. “It’s bring your parents to work day!”

“Great,” Michael replies, rather subdued.

Ripa and Consuelos, both 47, were so proud of their oldest son when it was announced he was cast as the younger Hiram Lodge.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Michael will appear in the flashback episode, in which stars KJ Apa and Lili Reinhart will play the roles of their onscreen parents.

Michael is currently attending NYU and is the oldest of siblings Lola, 17, and Joaquin, 15. His sister likely approves of his summer gig. Ripa has talked about Lola’s love of the show before.

“I wish you could watch Riverdale with my 16-year-old daughter, who is finally like, ‘I cannot believe Dad is on a show that I actually watch,’” she told Jimmy Fallon last year. Apparently, she doesn’t appreciate that she’s not allowed the same freedoms as Consuelos’s onscreen daughter, Veronica.

“You know, so Veronica — she’s 16 also — and she drinks mimosas at breakfast. My daughter’s like, ‘Dad never lets me drink mimosas at breakfast!’” Ripa continued. “And I go, ‘Yeah, because he’s a real father and that’s a character on TV!’”

Maybe Lola will be the next family member to catch the acting bug.
