Kelly Clarkson has made the first move to legally end her marriage to Brandon Blackstock. Entertainment Tonight and The Blast report that Clarkson filed for divorce in Los Angeles on June 4. The reason cited in her legal documents has remained private at this point.

Clarkson and Blackstock wed in October 2013; it was her first marriage and his second. They have two children together: five-year-old daughter River Rose and four-year-old son Remington Alexander.

Clarkson and Blackstock had been quarantining together with their children and his two kids from his previous marriage in Montana. She gave no sign of discord between them on social media, last sharing a video that Blackstock took with their kids to wish her a happy birthday in April. "Just now seeing this and I am bawling! They’re all so cute! I’ve had a bit of a rough week and this just turned it around," she captioned the video that her show's Twitter account shared.

She last posted a photo of Blackstock on her Instagram in March.

Clarkson spoke to Marie Claire in 2018 about what it was like to work with Blackstock, whom she hired as her manager. "Well, I think it comes down to respect," she said. "I wouldn’t have hired Brandon to be my manager if I didn’t see first-hand how great he is at that and how much he cares about Blake [Shelton]. And the way that [Blake’s] career has blown up, I would have hired Brandon regardless. He’s really talented at what he does and his mind really does work in a completely different way. I’m always like 'is this your manager hat?' And he’ll go 'oh, is this your artist hat? Are we going there? [laughs]' So, we’re pretty good about that. I mean, we just have the regular marriage, kids thing, to where it’s like 'I am not putting them to bed, you are.'"
