Kelly Clarkson Both Trolled Herself and Proved She's a Musical Legend at the Billboard Music Awards 2019

The disrespect she faced!

Wednesday night at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, host Kelly Clarkson proved that she has both the singing talent and comedic chops for the job.

The jam-packed awards show full of performances from BTS, Halsey, and more kicked off with a bang: Taylor Swift and Panic at the Disco!'s Brendon Urie kicked things off with the first-ever IRL performance of their hit new collaboration "ME!" Then Kelly took over the mic, walking through the crowd and eventually hitting a bit of a snag.

After some waving at the celeb guests and some small talk with Terry Crews, the American Idol season one winner took an empty seat. She was then quickly interrupted by a security officer who said she was in the seats for the guys of Florida Georgia Line. What's even worse is that the security officer didn't even know who she was. The disrespect.

So Kelly got up and performed a master medley full of some of today's biggest hits, including songs from BTS, Cardi B, and more. But that didn't seem to impress the security office, who still escorted her away. And when Kelly turned to none other than former American Idol judge Paula Abdul, the "Opposites Attract" legend wouldn't help the former mentee out.

This, of course, was all a bit. Kelly trolled herself, basing it off her own experience earlier this year at the Academy of Country Music Awards where she was mistaken for a seat filler. She had tweeted, "The greatest thing by far that happened to me tonight was being asked to move because some guy thought I was a seat filler at the ACM’s tonight 🤣😂 #CantWinEmAll 💁🏼‍♀️ literally, it made my night because he was so serious, and I just politely said no hahaha!!"

The entire thing showed off that not only can Kelly sing a whole lot of different kinds of music (and in Spanish), but also isn't afraid to joke around about herself. It was quite the way to kick off the BBMAs.
