This Kellogg's Vending Machine Mixes All Your Favorite Together Cereals for You

It's a bit of a midlife crisis cliché: Oh, to go back to college again! Less stress, more socializing, and—if you happen to go back to Florida State University or the University of Wisconsin-Madison—the chance to try out the new Kellogg's Bowl Bot cereal-mixing-and-dispensing robot!

Created as a joint pilot program between Kellogg's Away from Home (the division of Kellogg that works with foodservice operators) and Chowbotics (the now-DoorDash-owned startup that looks to make food more accessible with robots), these two new Kellogg's Bowl Bots have recently been introduced on the aforementioned university campuses. Students can use a touchscreen interface (or the Chowbotics app) to create their own custom cereals by blending together cereal brands, milk and dairy options, and toppings such as fruits, nuts, seeds, and more—22 ingredients in all.

Kellogg's Away from Home

Not feeling creative? The machine also comes loaded with seven pre-programmed options. They include "About Last Night" which mixes Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Krave Chocolate, chocolate drops, banana chips, and espresso syrup; the "Hawaii 5-0" made with Frosted Mini-Wheats, Bear Naked Fit Triple Berry Granola, pineapple, coconut, and mango; and "Valentine's Day Vibes" which blends together Special K Red Berries Cereal, cocoa nibs, blueberries, strawberries, and whole milk.

The bowls range in price from $2.99 to $6.50, and yes, they can be paid for on the student meal plan.

"We're thrilled to partner with Kellogg's Away from Home and these universities to expand their dining offerings and reach students with an exciting, innovative experience," Penn Daniel, general manager of Chowbotics by DoorDash, said in the announcement. "The Kellogg's Bowl Bot provides students a convenient, quick way to customize the Kellogg's cereals they know and love for a fresh meal or snack anytime."

FSU students can find their Kellogg's Bowl Bot in 1851, the on-campus dining facility and convenience store. Or if you're in Madison, look for that Bowl Bot on Dejope Residence Hall's main floor, outside The Bean & Creamery.
