In April 2022, after Lizzo basically confirmed she’s in a relationship and, like, wildly happy, the internet was set aflame over who her S.O. could possibly be. The singer, who married herself in 2017’s “Truth Hurts” video and engaged in flirty DMs with Chris Evans, even made fun of her relationship status during her SNL monologue: “They think I’m collecting members of One Direction like Infinity Stones. I even heard a rumor that I’m pregnant with Chris Evans’s baby. I have no idea where that one started. It could be the TikTok I did where I said, ‘I am pregnant with Chris Evans’s baby.’ It’s called manifesting.”
IRL, though, Lizzo had never publicly named her beloved beau…that is, until she confirmed everyone’s guesses back in June. Yep, Lizzo is dating Myke Wright! The actor was the “Good as Hell” singer’s plus-one to a v important event: the screening of her upcoming Prime Video show. So whether you’ve come to this story because you love Lizzo and just want the best for her (same) or simply because you’re nosy (also same), let’s get into everything we know about this mega-cute ’ship.
He's featured in one of her songs
...Well, kind of! This past September, the singer couldn't stop gushed about her boyfriend during an appearance on Audacy Check In. “Well, I am in love,” she confessed. “He has [his] own name for me. He calls me Melly.” Lizzo apparantly loved the name so much that she wound up immortalizing it via song lyrics in her hit “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” when she says “he call me Melly (ayy), he squeeze my belly (yeah) / I'm too embarrassed (ah) to say I like it” in the track's second verse. Obsessed!
We wouldn't be shocked if they got engaged 👀
That is, if they ever started a business together in the near future lol. During an October 2022 interview with Vanity Fair, the songwriter opened up about not being in a rush to tie the knot with Mike, saying, “I’ve known him for over six years. He’s everything. We’re just in love. And that’s it...People fight for monogamy like they pray to it every day. I am not a polyamorous person, I’m not in love with multiple partners. That is not me. He’s the love of my life. We are life mates.” However, she then added: “Do I want to get married? If I wanted to start a business with him, I’d get married because that’s when your finances come together.” Honestly? The math is truly mathing on this one!
Lizzo and her boyfriend made their red carpet debut in June!
Nearly two months ago, Lizzo and Myke attended the screening of Lizzo’s Prime Video series Watch Out for the Big Grrrls and looked all kinds of in love. In an Insta carousel the singer subsequently posted, she included a super-sweet pic of them to commemorate the night (not to mention…she also showcased a diamond ring on *that* finger placed over his).
Consider this my new standard for a 10/10 hard launch post!
Fans were totally right about guessing Myke’s ID.
Lizzo hadn’t ever really named the magnificent gentleman in her life and instead chose to keep his name private—which is sweet, TBH. But in late April, Us Weekly reported that fans thought it might be Myke Wright, who is a comedian and actor who previously starred with Lizzo on the MTV series Wonderland:
According to his IMDb, Myke has had parts in Doubting Thomas (2018), How to Be a Grown Up (2014), and Breaking & Entering (2013). He also does stand-up, so here he is talking about celebrity kids (lol):
And honestly, he’s hilarious, so go Lizzo!
She admitted she was in a relationship earlier this year.
Back in February 2022, an interviewer for Variety asked her, “Are you currently in love?” and she replied, “Ooh. We got to go! I’m just going to say—a little bit.” Then she confirmed to Andy Cohen after an April 2022 sighting of her and this “mystery man” (who we now know is Myke 👀) that she’s dating someone. He, like, point-blank asked her and she (kind of shocked but also rly happily) was like, “Yeah, whatever. Yeah!” She also said the other person doesn’t need to be a celeb: “If you have the right person, no…it’s not even a factor. It should be mutually supportive, no matter what that person does.”
We first knew about their romance in 2021.
Just after The Sun posted some pics of her and Myke hanging out in Malibu in March 2021, Lizzo posted with the caption “single” on her Insta, which I figure was her basically telling all of us it was none of our business (and honestly, fair!). Then paparazzi nabbed pics of the pair again in August and October 2021, then again in January 2022:
And once again in February 2022 with the actor covering his face with a ski mask (smart!!). We even got some masked-up handholding in April:
And even more in that same month before her April 27 birthday.
We got an adorable glimpse on Lizzo’s Instagram.
In March 2022, Lizzo shared that she’s with someone and over the moon. Captioning the post, “Happyyyyyyyyyyyy,” Lizzo is posing (drink in hand, ofc), then leans over and almost loses her balance attempting to kiss a man offscreen. Which, like, is everything I’ve always wanted for her.
Also, in May, during a weekend celebrating her b-day, you can catch a glimpse of his face (heart-eye emoji) at the very end.
He’s super supportive.
Apparently, Myke was there when Lizzo hosted SNL—and if that’s not love, I don’t want it. Plus, she arrived at the after-party holding hands with him!!
Myke is on social media.
Myke is also on Instagram and Twitter, yw, and even though he hasn’t confirmed anything about whom he might be dating (I get it), he’s also a designer who has a vision for the sunglasses, remotes, and water bottles of the future. Also, wow:
I am…loving every ounce of this, TBH.
