- After feuding for years, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry made up in 2018.
- Now that it's over, Katy says that they aren't close but they "text a lot."
After ending what seemed like one of the longest celeb feuds ever, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift seem to have a little friendship going on.
In an interview with Stellar Magazine, Katy made it clear that she and Taylor aren't suddenly best friends. But they do try and keep in contact with their busy schedules. "Well, we don’t have a very close relationship because we are very busy, but we text a lot," she said.
Katy went on to praise Taylor's documentary Miss Americana. "I was impressed by her documentary because I saw some self-awareness starting to happen and I saw a lot of vulnerability,” Katy said. “I was really excited for her to be able to show that to the world: that things aren’t perfect, they don’t have to be and it’s more beautiful when they aren’t. Even though it was difficult, it was important to make that appearance in the music video because people want people to look up to.”
“We wanted it to be an example of unity. Forgiveness is important. It’s so powerful. If you can forgive your enemy, that’s amazing. As difficult as it is!” she explained.
Recall, Katy and Taylor had some major beef over the years before finally making up in 2018. In early 2000s, Taylor was rumored to be dating John Mayer (her song "Dear John" is reportedly about their relationship). Back then, Taylor and Katy were friends, so when Katy started dating John a few years later it made some people 👀.
Then in 2014, dancers that had previously worked with Katy on her California Dreams Tour performed with Taylor on her Red World Tour, according to BBC. When the dancers wanted to leave Taylor's tour early for Katy's Prism tour, the "Lover" singer reportedly wasn't happy.
During an episode of Carpool Karaoke, Katy said the feud was over three backup dancers, but in her 2014 cover interview with Rolling Stone , Taylor said someone (Katy wasn't directly named) was messing with her whole tour. "She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me," Taylor told the mag.
Before things died out, there were some diss tracks made. Katy's "Swish Swish" is reportedly about Taylor and it didn't help anything that she sung the song on her Carpool Karaoke episode. Taylor's "Bad Blood" is reportedly about the literal bad blood between the two singers.
But the feud ended in 2018 when Katy sent Taylor a literal olive branch to end their feud. According to USA Today, Katy told The Kyle and Jackie O Show "I realized how much we have in common, and maybe there's only five other people in the world that can have the same type of conversations and understand where we're coming from, and that we should celebrate our commonality."

Last year, Katy posted a pic of some cookies on Instagram. The plate reads, "PEACE AT LAST" featuring two peace signs. She captioned the shot, "feels good 🧡 @taylorswift."
The two then publically squashed their feud when Katy appeared in Taylor’s music video (check the 2:43 mark to see) and they hugged wearing cheeseburger and fries costumes.
Now, a couple years later, it seems the two have put their feud completely behind them.
