Katie Holmes spent her Sunday afternoon strolling the streets of New York, throwing in a quick mid-day outfit change.

The “Dawson’s Creek” alumna stepped out in Manhattan yesterday in a mom-chic look that layered a classic black sweater with a gold chain necklace and blush pink straight-leg jeans.

During her first excursion of the day, Holmes teamed the outfit to her go-to black “ugly” sandals, complete with a double-strap design and metallic buckles. Considered traditionally “ugly” in the fashion world, Holmes joined the expansive list of celebrities (such as Heidi Klum and Paris Jackson) switching out their sleek heels for orthopedic-looking or sport-leaning sandals like iterations from Teva, Prada and Birkenstock.

Later in the evening, the “Batman Begins” actress ventured out once more in the same ensemble but with a noticeable change in both her oversized sunglasses and her choice of footwear.

Instead of her “ugly” sandals, the star went for a closed-toe pair from Acne Studios. The extra chunky pair debuted as part of the brand’s fall ’19 collection and features a trekking boot-inspired silhouette with its lug-sole finish and its paneled white and gray overlays. Titled the Bolzter sneaker, the design retails for $540 at Farfetch.com.

The frontwoman of the newly-released “The Secret” movie oftentimes favors on-trend silhouettes that are just as stylish as her outfit of choice. The 41-year-old is known for her top-of-the-line style, often revisiting her go-to colder weather ensemble: an oversize coat with streamlined pants and easy-to-wear shoes. She matches the combo with everything from Veja sneakers to flared-heel Dorateymur boots. As the weather heats up, though, you can find the actress in flowy dresses, more lightweight tops and a rotation of easy-going pieces.

Beyond off-duty style and impeccable footwear taste, Katie Holmes’ experience in the fashion industry earned her the title of an Olay brand ambassador; she also previously served as the face of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Miu Miu, Ann Taylor and more top brands throughout her successful career.
