The actress shared some candid selfies in honor of a friend's birthday.

Actress Katie Holmes doesn't share personal photos too often on social media, so when she does, it's definitely noteworthy, especially when the pictures show off her natural beauty.

The 44-year-old posted an update on Instagram in honor of her close friend's birthday, captioning it, "Happy Birthday @briesarawelch ! We celebrate you!!!!!!!! Thank you for being such a beautiful and amazing friend!!!!! 🎂🎉🥳🎂🎉🥳💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻."

Featured in the post were many in-the-moment snaps of a fresh-faced Holmes looking happy, including a selfie of Holmes and her friend hanging out in warmer weather.

Holmes' friend Brie Welch, the birthday girl in question, responded to her in the comments, writing, "🥹 thank youuu wonderful friend ! ! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼."

Many followers shared how much they enjoyed seeing Holmes be a supportive and caring friend, while quite a few complimented the actress on her nose ring.

Holmes still works as an actress, but she tends to keep a low profile. Right now, she's starring in the play The Wanderers by Anna Ziegler at the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City.

Directed by Barry Edelstein, Holmes stars alongside Sarah Cooper, Lucy Freyer, Dave Klasko, and Eddie Kaye Thomas in the main cast.

In 2022, Holmes wrote, directed, and starred in the film Alone Together, about two strangers stuck together in an Airbnb after the pandemic starts, forced to reflect on their bad relationships. Also in the cast are Jim Sturgess, Derek Luke, and Melissa Leo.

Holmes directed her first feature film in 2016 with All We Had, which she also starred in, followed by an episode of the miniseries The Kennedys After Camelot the following year.

After taking a five-year break from directing, she returned with Alone Together and has already completed her next movie as director, writer, and actress, called Rare Objects, which is currently in post-production.
