While it's not a requirement for successful relationships, it certainly doesn't hurt when couples start off as friends and explore their compatibility before diving into the sexual and sensual aspects of romance. And in Katherine Schwarzenegger and Chris Pratt's case, a strong foundation of friendship before romance was inevitable considering Saturn's strong presence in their relationship.

It's the "planet of time and long-term commitments," says Narayana Montúfar, senior astrologer at Astrology.com and Horoscope.com. "And because of Katherine and Chris’ age difference, their Saturn signs are quite apart in the zodiac. His is in Virgo and hers is in Capricorn," she explains, putting their planets are a 120-degree angle from each other which Montúfar calls a friendly angle.

"Having them positioned this way is almost a warranty that their relationship will last and that they will be able to build a family with a strong foundation," she adds. And because they've had mutual respect for each other from the start, Montúfar says they'll be able to teach each other valuable lessons without the other feeling pressured. Plus, given that their Saturns are in earth signs, "even though there’s fame and success around them, they will raise their children with a more down-to-earth and practical approach." This last point's a biggie considering the two just welcomed their daughter in August.

In this case, planets that are out of sync are actually working in Katherine and Chris's favor.

In fact, planets in opposition is a trend in this couple's charts. Many of the key planets that speak to their compatibility are positioned at an angle or in outright opposition from each other—proving that, for them, opposites attract. If you're on the lookout for more proof, Montúfar analyzed the couple's birth charts top to bottom and explained exactly why Chris and Katherine are meant to last.

Their Sun signs balance out their egos.

"When it comes to their core personalities, their Sun connection is an interesting one, [Chris's] is in Gemini, and [Katherine's] is in Sagittarius, opposing each other by the exact degree," says Montúfar. Sun-to-sun opposition can get tricky since it means two personalities are simultaneously attracting and repelling each other, but in Katherine and Chris' case, the tension stimulates them. It allows them to be mutually supportive of the other's needs and aspirations without getting in the way.

Mars fuels Katherine and Chris's sensuality and their disagreements.

Mars, the planet that rules drive, sex, and anger is also at opposition in Katherine and Chris's charts. Katherine's is in Scorpio while Chris's is in Taurus. "This means that they assert themselves and go after what they want in completely different ways," says Montúfar. So, butting heads is pretty much a given.

And sure, what couple doesn't fight? But in this relationship, the arguments are probably of the "legendary kind," Montúfar says, since Mars in Taurus is especially stubborn, while Mars in Scorpio is super-strong and even sneaky. Still, because Mars is a ~complex~ planet, the sensuality and attraction between them is strong and undeniable which will keep these two coming back to each other again and again.

Venus maintains their attraction to each other.

Introducing one of the only planets that is in sync for Katherine and Chris: Venus. This planet rules attraction. And because Chris's Venus is in Gemini and Katherine's is in Aquarius, they're positioned at what Montúfar says is a "very nice angle toward each other" allowing them to connect intellectually and sustain long, deep conversations with each other. This attraction between Katherine and Chris is just the thing to calm the occasional storms brought on by Mars since Venus's energy is always "friendly and unifying," Montúfar says.
