There are some rom-com scenes you just don’t forget. Like when Keira Knightley reads those giant cue cards in Love Actually, or when Billy Crystal’s character gives that New Year’s Eve confession of love in When Harry Met Sally. And now, Katherine Heigl has just recreated another one of our favorite movie moments—a memorable scene from her 2008 film 27 Dresses.
It all took place at the 2023 Emmys after-party hosted by Netflix, when DJ Benjamin Walker put on the track “Bennie and the Jets.” In case you’ve forgotten, Heigl famously dances to this song in 27 Dresses, when her character gets drinks with James Marsden’s character and as the song progresses (and they get tipsier), their characters start dancing to it on top of the bar.
A mere 16 years later, Heigl’s moves are just as good. Walker talked about the moment on his Instagram account; the DJ wrote, “I love a good rom-com so when i saw @katherineheigl, I knew IMMEDIATELY there was one song to end the night and one song only…. #IYKYK #27dresses.” In his post, Walker also shared a clip of Heigl dancing, which you can watch here.
In the video, we see Heigl boogying in her custom Reem Acra dress. The vibrant red gown featured a heart-shaped neckline that was actually two pieces of fabric layered on top of each other. Along the waist, the dress was decorated with a silver brooch, which matched Heigl’s choker necklace. This was the actor's first appearance at the Emmys since 2014, and she presented the award for Outstanding Supporting Male Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
