There was this candid moment at the Academy Awards captured on camera: Best Actress nominees Brie Larson and Cate Blanchett were chatting with Best Supporting Actress nominee Kate Winslet. During the conversation, the Room star looked shocked, and then Blanchett started rubbing Winslet’s stomach, with Larson eventually throwing her arms around Winslet. This short exchange, shared on Vine and in photo sets on social media, resulted in a viral conspiracy theory: Kate Winslet is pregnant.

Media outlets suggesting that a celebrity is expecting a child isn’t groundbreaking. How many times has Jennifer Aniston been on the cover of a tabloid with a headline implying she’d be a mother in just a few months? And it wouldn’t be so crazy to think that Winslet could possibly be pregnant, considering she does already have three kids — Mia Honey Threapleton (15), Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes (12), Bear Blaze Winslet (2). But such a radical assumption based on one hug? Internet, you’re crazy.

According to TMZ, the conversation did not go as follows: “Congratulations! Let’s hug it out. Will you name your fourth child after me if I win?” Instead, it probably went something like this:

Larson: “My publicist told me that I already made Worst Dressed lists but I don’t care because I’m probably going to win an Oscar!”

Winslet: “It’s OK, babe. The gold guy is more important that fashion, you know this. But look at my gown, isn’t it beautiful?!”

Blanchett: “Yes, it is! I want to eat you up!”

A source close to Winslet insists that the gals were just gabbing over how amazing the Steve Jobs actress looked in her brown Ralph Lauren gown. The custom strapless evening gown with asymmetric draped detailing was made using liquid black silk lamé, which gave off the futuristic effect of appearing like liquid chocolate (hence Blanchett’s imagined exclamation).

So, lesson learned: Sometimes people aren’t pregnant, they’re just wearing really cool dresses.
