Kate Middleton and Prince William are in Anglesey, Wales, today, for an official visit. The moment's a particularly impactful one, as it not only marks the couple's first official royal engagement since William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8 (the couple made several smaller appearances related to the Queen's death, but this will be their first event as part of the normal schedule of their royal duties), but also their first trip to Wales since becoming the Prince and Princess of Wales.

For the occasion, Kate donned a brilliant red coat made from recycled wool, with striking gold tone hardware, from one of her go-to designers, LK Bennett. The princess paired the colorful topper with an all black look underneath, with a black blouse, matching trousers, simple black pumps, and a black Grace Han handbag.

During the visit, Kate and William are set to meet with crew and volunteers of the RNLI Holyhead Lifeboat Station as well as members of the local community before traveling to Swansea to meet volunteers at St Thomas Church.

“The Prince and Princess have a deep affection for Wales, having made their first family home in Anglesey, and have thoroughly enjoyed previous visits and the warmth and kindness shown by the Welsh people,” Kensington Palace said in a statement about the trip. “Their Royal Highnesses are looking forward to spending more time in Wales over the coming months and years, taking the time to strengthen their relationship with communities in all parts of Wales.”

However, despite previous speculation about when there might be an official investiture for Prince William as the new Prince of Wales, as his father had in 1969, it has since been made clear that there are no plans for a formal ceremony.
