Kate Middleton wears pearl necklace also worn by Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth

Monday marked Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s 70th wedding anniversary, so to mark the historic occasion the entire royal family celebrated together at Windsor Castle in Berkshire.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, and Charles and Camilla were all spotted making their way into the royal residence, in the countryside, to commemorate the couple’s enduring marriage.

Although the duchess’s outfit couldn’t be seen in all its glory from the few photos that were taken, it’s believed she was wearing a frock by Diane Von Furstenberg, one that she’s stepped out in on multiple occasions.

The $1,038 floor-length style was worn by Kate earlier this month at The Anna Freud Gala Dinner. The 35-year-old royal also wore the dress for the 2014 Royal Variety Performance, when she was pregnant with Prince George.

New royal jewels for The Duchess! The Royal trio have been spotted arriving at The Queen and Prince Philip's 70th wedding anniversary party this evening! They are celebrating with close family and friends at Windsor Castle. More than 100 guests gathered in the State Apartments to toast the royal couple. To mark the occasion, Her Majesty has presented The Duke of Edinburgh with a rare honour. She has appointed Philip a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO) for services to the sovereign. This is a gesture of recognition of the devotion Philip has shown Elizabeth for 70 years. Philip is the longest serving consort in British Royal history, and The Queen is our longest reigning monarch. In 1997, the Queen said of Philip: “He has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years, and I, and his whole family, and this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would ever claim, or we shall ever know.” Twenty years ago, Philip also revealed: “I think the main lesson that we have learnt is that tolerance is the one essential ingredient of any happy marriage. You can take it from me that the Queen has the quality of tolerance in abundance." —————— The Duchess of Cambridge can be seen in her black lace Diane Von Furstenberg gown she has worn three times previously. When she was snapped leaving Kensington Palace, she had on a new black coat overtop. As for jewellery, she is wearing Princess Diana's Collingwood pearl drop earrings again, as well as a pearl necklace we have not previously seen on her. This is The Queen's Four Row Japanese Pearl Choker, according to Her Majesty's Jewel Vault. The Queen commissioned this choker necklace from a set of pearls given to her by the Japanese government in 1975. Princess Diana has also worn this piece. However, it’s the duchess’s jewels that really stood out. Middleton, who’s expecting her third child in April, borrowed one of the Queen’s most striking necklaces: the Four Row Japanese Pearl Choker.

The piece is thought to have been made in the 1970s by royal jeweler Garrard from pearls given to the Queen by the Japanese government. It was first seen on the monarch in 1982 and features four rows of pearls with a central diamond clasp.

It’s the first time Kate has worn the pearl piece. Princess Diana was also a fan of the choker, having been spotted wearing it to a banquet at Hampton Court Palace in 1982.
