It’s no secret that the relationships among the members of the British royal family are complex, to say the least. However, Kate Middleton is allegedly stepping in to act as the family mediator, according to her uncle, Gary Goldsmith.

The brother of the Duchess of Cambridge’s mother, Carole Middleton, recently sat down for an interview with Closer magazine and opened up about his niece's ability to “bring peace” among the members of her fam.

“If anyone can bring peace to the royals, Kate can,” Goldsmith told the outlet. “Kate is a brilliant arbiter and peacemaker. Every bone in her body is about making friends and doing the best she can… She’s trying to meditate.”

Goldsmith continued, “You could see at the funeral that Kate was there trying to make peace, bringing [William and Harry] together. Harry and Kate were great friends, they were a trio with William and a strong unit. Family and relationships are everything to Kate—she’s very nurturing, she wouldn’t like that [rift] happening and she is trying to look after her husband and do what she can to make things right.”

And the 52-year-old isn’t the only one who thinks Middleton plays an important role in the gang. In fact, royal expert, Katie Nicholl, revealed that she believes the duchess is the “glue” that holds the family together (a role previously held by Prince Philip).

“I think Kate is the glue,” Nichols said on Australia’s 60 Minutes per Marie Claire. “In the same way that the Duke of Edinburgh was always the one who would help resolve family issues. He was the patriarch of the family. I see Kate stepping into that role. Trying to keep things together.”
