The Duchess of Cambridge has a new role!

This morning, Buckingham Palace revealed in a press release that Duchess Kate has been appointed joint president of the United Kingdom's Scout Association to work alongside Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. The Scout Association helps almost half a million people aged six to 25 from all walks of life gain the skills they need for their futures, making it one of the largest coeducational youth movements within the country.

For the duchess's first appearance as joint president, she visited the 12th Northolt Scout Group in West London to hear how the Scouts have adapted to the global pandemic in recent months. Kate kept her clothing casual, choosing sleek, dark skinny jeans; a blue oxford button-down; a black vest; and chunky-heeled, lace-up hiking boots. In video shared via the Kensington Palace Twitter account, the royal can be seen speaking with fellow Scouts, partaking in arts and crafts, and even sitting down to roast a marshmallow.

"For many children and young people, The Scout Association plays a key role as they build relationships and develop the skills they need to succeed in later life. When I volunteered with the Scouts on Anglesey eight years ago, I was struck by the huge impact the organisation has on inspiring young people to support their communities and achieve their goals," said the duchess in a statement. "I am delighted to be joining The Duke of Kent as Joint President of the Association and look forward to working with Scouts across the country as they strive to make a positive difference to our society."

Kate will also be presented with the Silver Wolf Award, the highest award honored by The Scout Association to highlight her dedication to the organization. The Duchess has volunteered with the Scouts in recent years, including a visit to Scouts Headquarters at Gilwell Park in 2019 to celebrate the site's centennial anniversary. She also previously volunteered at a local scouts group on Anglesey in North Wales, where she and Prince William first lived as newlyweds.
