What's Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's relationship like when they aren't at work functions together? According to Hello! magazine, they are much, much closer in their day-to-day lives than they were a year ago. Royal reporter Carolyn Durand told the magazine in its current issue, via The Mirror, that the two talk pretty consistently now.

"Kate was a great source of support to Meghan in the days leading up to Archie's birth and, despite reports of a rift, they are family and have a really lovely friendship," Durand said. "Their relationship has certainly evolved over time, and they have become closer since Meghan's wedding. They talk and text regularly, they have more in common, and Kate has wanted to make sure Meghan has felt welcome into the family."

Durand noted that while both Kate and Meghan have very different interests and friends of their own, Meghan becoming a mother really strengthened their relationship.

Durand first reported that detail for ELLE.com after Kate and Meghan attended Wimbledon together. “Catherine and Meghan enjoy seeing each other, and motherhood has definitely brought them closer together,” a source told her.

With their Wimbledon visit generally, a source said that “Kate and Meghan had always planned to attend the final together. Not only is it something that they enjoy, it’s also a chance to remind people that the tabloid stories about their relationship have been wide of the mark."

Hello!'s report comes after People ran its own cover story last week on how Kate and Meghan are better friends now. “They’re each a little more relaxed,” an insider told the outlet. “They have more in common now [that they're both mothers].”
