Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are celebrating an important wedding anniversary today, having gotten married 72 years ago. Congratulations are most definitely in order!

The monarch and her husband tied the knot at Westminster Abbey on November 20, 1947, and their family members have already started posting sweet tributes to the royals on Instagram.

The official Kensington Palace Instagram account led the tributes to the queen and her husband. Duchess Kate and Prince William wrote, "Wishing Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh a very happy 72nd Wedding Anniversary! 📷PA."


Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan followed suit with another sweet picture of the royals. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrote on Instagram, "Happy anniversary to Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh! On this day, seventy-two years ago, they were married at Westminster Abbey. Many congratulations! Photo © PA."


Meanwhile, the official royal family Instagram account also posted photos of the couple's wedding day, to commemorate an impressive 72 years of marriage.


People from all over the world reportedly congratulated Queen Elizabeth on her wedding, with the royal family's official website revealing that the couple received more than 2,500 gifts from all over the world.

After their wedding, the queen and her husband had their honeymoon on their beloved Balmoral estate in Scotland.
