Kate Middleton Is Making Hatbands (Yes, They're a Thing) Fetch Again
Hatband (noun): a mix between a hat and a headband made popular in the 1940s.
Duchess Kate Middleton is bringing back the open-crown “halo” hat style one outfit at a time. But, TBH, it’s pretty wearable for the non Ascot-attending citizens among us.
Here, Middleton debuted her first hatband of 2018 at Prince Louis's christening in July. The duchess paired her ivory Alexander McQueen dress with a cream headband with floral and pearl appliqué by Jane Taylor London.
She next debuted the stylish accessory in a more seasonal variety for Remembrance Day services in November. This black velvet hatband feels very on-trend today with ladies' faux fur cossack hats making a big comeback for the past few seasons.
The duchess's velvet crescent moon hat, also by Jane Taylor, was worn with an emerald green Catherine Walker coatdress.
Next up, a second velvet headband. This time, in maroon to match her red velvet Catherine Walker dress coat for the royals' Christmas Walk 2018 at St. Mary's Magdalene church in Sandringham. Yes, ladies and gents: K. Middy has found an outfit formula she loves.
And, finally, on New Year's Day, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, cemented her go-to accessory in style history for 2019. Here, the mom of three wore an aqua blue hatband with side bow with her matching blue coat as she and Prince William attended New Year's Day church services.
Sorry, velvet bows, by royal decree: It's *officially* the year of the hatband.
