On Wednesday, Kate Middleton met with members of the Royal Navy at Kensington Palace during her first solo engagement since Queen Elizabeth's passing.

In the new photos that were posted on the Wales's official Instagram account, Kate is seen speaking with the members of the Royal Navy Ship's Company of HMS Glasglow, a 21st-century warship currently under construction in Scotland. A caption for the post read: "A pleasure to meet some of the @royalnavy Ship’s Company of HMS Glasgow, learning more about their roles and what’s next on the route to getting her in the water."

For the occasion, the newly-minted Princess of Wales wore a sophisticated navy blue suit with a white blouse. She wore her signature brown locks down and tied her look together with a matching belt, pumps, and a blue gemmed pendant necklace.

Back in June 2021, the Queen approved the appointment of Kate as the sponsor of HMS Glasglow. During the meeting, Kate got to speak to the Ship’s Company about how the building process is going and what life is like in the Royal Navy.

The engagement comes days after Kate and Prince William visited Wales under their new titles of Prince and Princess of Wales. It was their first official outing since the official mourning period for Queen Elizabeth concluded.

During the visit, the royal couple met with crew and volunteers of the RNLI Holyhead Lifeboat Station, as well as members of the local community before traveling to Swansea to meet volunteers at St Thomas Church.
