Prince Louis makes an adorable appearance in the new portraits released for his grandfather Prince Charles' 70th birthday. The fifth in line for the throne smiles in his mother Kate Middleton's arms in the photos, sporting white and baby blue in the Clarence House gardens with the rest of his family.
This is six-month-old Louis' first appearance since his christening in July, but what makes the cameo even more special is his uncanny resemblance to his mom.
Royal correspondent Rebecca English of The Daily Mail points out that when the Duchess of Cambridge was a baby, she looked just like her youngest child does now.
This photo, originally taken in 1983, shows the Duchess as an infant wearing a white shirt with green plaid accents as she sits in her carriage. Baby Kate has the same cheeks and tiny furrowed brows that Louis has in their new family portraits.
Louis also carries a resemblance to his father, Prince William, especially in this photo shoot with parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The Duke of Cambridge was about the same age as Louis in this 1983 shot.
As genetics go, Louis also has a close resemblance to his older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. George, who's now five years old, had the same cheeks as an infant.
And Charlotte, who's now three, looked a lot like Louis during her christening in 2015.
We can't wait to see all of the Cambridges again in their next family portrait. Perhaps their annual royal Christmas card is next.
