Kate Middleton’s Latest Look Included a Nod to Princess Diana & a (Kind of) Royal Re-wear

Kate Middleton pulled a Prince Harry and Meghan Markle today and made a surprise appearance alongside her husband, Prince William, at the launch of the National Emergencies trust.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 37, arrived at St. Martin-in-the-Fields church near Trafalgar Square in London to announce the new initiative, which is aimed at encouraging charities to band together to promptly respond to disasters in the U.K. Although Prince William was the only royal slated to launch the trust, Kensington Palace switched up the itinerary last minute and added Middleton to the docket.

The duchess selected a regal royal blue Emilia Wickstead dress for the occasion. She also owns the frock in lilac and a similar version in forest green, so it’s kind of a royal re-wear. K-Middy even added her own custom Emilia Wickstead belt to the ensemble.

The Emilia Wickstead Kate A-line wool-crepe dress goes for $2,238, but is sadly sold out. However, the Julia Jordan black tie midi dress ($71), Eliza J long-sleeve belted sweater dress ($128) and Elie Tahari’s Miciela cap-sleeve belted dress ($398) are all pretty similar.

Middleton carried an Aspinal of London patent-leather black clutch (a similar version from the brand is $425) that she’s worn previously and brand-new Jimmy Choo Romy 85 patent leather pointed-toe pumps ($595). She topped the look with her Women of the First World War poppy brooch from Royal British Legion ($39). The brooch honors the memory of the women who served in WWI and lost their lives fighting for their country. She also paid tribute to another woman—her late mother-in-law Princess Diana—by wearing her sapphire and diamond drop earrings (which match her engagement ring beautifully, we might add).

T-minus two days until we see the Duchess of Cambridge again at the Remembrance Festival. We wonder what she’ll wear.
